Sony HDC-P50 4K/HD compact POV system camera
The Sony HDC-P50 is a light, compact Point of View (POV) system camera. Integrating seamlessly with existing HD infrastructure, lenses, and accessories, it gives ambitious program makers exciting new possibilities for creating HD, 4K HDR, and HD HFR productions.
This light and compact POV system camera features the world’s first 2/3-inch 4K global shutter three CMOS sensor system, delivering exceptional images with impressive sensitivity and wide dynamic range.
Thanks to ultra-high precision alignment technology, three 4K sensors on the newly developed prism achieves ITU-R BT.2020 broadcast standard widened color space. As a result, the HDC-P50 delivers exceptionally high-quality images in demanding 4K/HDR live production environments.
The camera can directly output remarkably crisp, clear 4K HDR* images directly from the camera head with no need for a separate processor unit. Moreover, HD HFR* up to 6x can be output from camera directly. Used alone or as part of a multi-camera shoot, the HDC-P50 can be crane-mounted or operated as a fixed camera position. It’s also ideal for a wide range of other shooting situations, such as in combination with a camera stabilizer, in handheld mode, during wireless shooting, or while filming aerial footage from a helicopter.
Next-generation imaging
The HDC-P50 features the world’s first 2/3-inch 4K CMOS sensor with global shutter technology that eliminates the “jello effect” and banding noise. This next-generation imager captures pristine 4K images with exceptionally low noise, impressive sensitivity and high dynamic range, while achieving the ITU-R BT.2020 broadcast standard widened color space. It’s teamed with a specially developed new Digital Signal Processor that fully realizes the extraordinary imaging power of this new sensor.
Light, compact, quiet and energy-efficient
The HDC-P50 packs impressive imaging performance into a light, compact camera body that’s ideal for use in space-limited situations such as crane jibs, helicopter camera mounts, or operated as a fixed camera position. Low power consumption* is complemented by minimal operating noise levels.
* The HDC-P50 is powered by local power supply only.
Wide color space and dynamic range
The advanced optical system of the HDC-P50 supports the ITU-R BT.2020 color gamut, enabling exceptionally wide, precise color reproduction in live broadcasts. From sports to concerts and special events, you’ll see the difference with vibrant, true-to-life images that make viewers feel as if they’re really there. HDR operation is available for 4K and HD simultaneous live operation through the S-Log3 process.
Dual servo-controlled optical filters
Dual optical filter wheels for Neutral Density (ND) and Color Correction (CC)* open up even wider creative possibilities in changing light conditions. Both filters can be controlled from a remote control panel or master setup unit.
Seamless integration into Sony HD workflows
The HDC-P50 joins Sony’s acclaimed HDC Series family of live production solutions. It benefits from direct compatibility with a wide range of accessories and remote control panels. The camera is also designed for integration with third-party control systems.
Smooth migration from HD to 4K
The HDC-P50 fits seamlessly into the growing Sony 4K live production environment. With an optional software upgrade, the camera enables 4K capture for multiple 4K and HD outputs.
Direct HFR output up to 6x
The HDC-P50 can output HD 2x, 3x, 4x, 6x HFR output directly. Since the HFR output can be HDR picture, dynamic motion contents can be captured in a variety of shooting locations such as the goal area or from a helicopter. The signal can be transmitted via just 2 12G-SDI cable to the live production server PWS-4500.

Sony PXW-FX9 6K camera
The Sony PXW-FX9 is Sony’s full-frame 6K sensor camera with Fast Hybrid AF, Dual Base ISO, and S-Cinetone™ color science. Its input and output features include 12G/6G-SDI and HDMI outputs for 4K video, a 3G-SDI output for HD, and genlock and timecode when using a multicamera setup. The Fast Hybrid AF autofocus system allows for accurate focus and even allows facial detection to automatically detect human form with 561 points of detection.
Advanced image stabilization is achieved using the PXW-FX9’s internal gyroscope for shots so smooth it’ll look like you used a gimbal. Its 4-channel audio recording allows you to use external microphones and record ambient sound with the internal mics simultaneously.
6K Full-Frame “Exmor R” sensor for stunning picture quality
The back-illuminated full-frame 6K CMOS sensor uses Sony’s Exmor R technology for improved sensitivity and reduced noise. When recording at DCI 4K Ultra HD resolutions, the ability to oversample and capture at 6K, combined with powerful image processing, ensures that subtle details and textures beyond those that can be captured by a conventional 4K sensor are retained while at the same time noise is reduced.
Phenomenal 15+ stops dynamic range for limitless expression.
FX9 offers an exceptional 15+ stops of dynamic range—allowing for unprecedented creative freedom in color grading and post. Camera operators can concentrate on framing the scene they want while relying upon the FX9 to capture every nuance and detail using either 4K 4:2:2 10-bit internal recording or 16-bit RAW external recording.
In grading, colorists can find color and detail beyond the normal viewing abilities of the camera operator to create a final image that exactly portrays the mood of the scene.
Dual Base ISO for stunning images in any light
Digital imaging sensors perform best at their base ISO as no unnecessary gain (voltage) is added to the sensor’s output. While a typical camera has a single base ISO, carefully chosen to provide the optimum settings for a wide range of shooting scenarios, the FX9’s dual ISO function offers far greater flexibility.
Its low base sensitivity of ISO 800 is like most other digital cinema cameras offering an excellent balance between dynamic range and sensitivity for most normal types of production.
The FX9 with its secondary High Base ISO of 4000 excels in low-light conditions without adding extra gain. Low-light scenes can be shot using High Base and 4000 ISO with near identical image quality to Low Base and 800 ISO.
Combining Dual Base ISO with the camera’s electronic variable ND Filter provides superb creative control in almost any shooting environment, with truly next-generation responsiveness to changing conditions.
